I don't understand the question - can you add some more detail please ?

AFAIK only proprietary drivers are supporting compatibility profiles today; Mesa can *report* a compatibility profile via over-ride but mixing of deprecated and new GL functions is not actually supported.

I can get 3.3 opengl on Fedora od opensuse while I get only 3.0 opengl on Kubuntu or Lubuntu (ubuntu) operating systems. This happens because Mesa on fedora or opensuse enable core profile instead of compatibility profile over Mesa drivers (perhaps because of DRM or other reasons). I'm using HD3850 AMD card which is state duspporting 3.3 opengl features also over XP Sp3 operating system detected by GPU CAPS VIEWER utility.

these are the information of chrome on Kubuntu. As you can see opengl stuck to 1.30 because of "compatiiblity profile" on mesa. Besides both pixel or vertex shaders get a low level release in confront of CORE PROFILE which get the 3.30 value

Try for the first maybe to use same versions of browser and not different... that is the way to bisect an issue, if it exists

Just checked out with Firefox also on Debian, so yeah it pick up compatability profile there as info both with mesa or with fglrx (probably no one care there as on blob 4.5 is on both ).

Azrael5 Does your glxinfo on Fedora also say 3.3?

YEs it says 3.30. iglxinfo states 3.30 core profile on both the operating systems. So ubuntu and its variations stuck into 3.0 compatibility profile despite of Fedora and Opensuse which take benefit from "core profile" by the same MESA release. So it could depend on the DRM driver or other KERNEL stuff.

Well, that is root of the "prob" AFAIK it should be 3.0, unless user do something like forcing MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=3.3COMPAT

My opinion is that an issues as problem doesn't exist: the only evidence is that while ubuntu systems use mesa compatibility profile, Opensuse and Fedora benefit of the "core profile". so the last mentioned can optimize my hardware better than ubuntu releases.

3.3 is not the prob it's the best because my hardware support up to 3.3 opengl as stated on microsoft operating system or by several online bench. So Fedora and Opensuse are the operating systems which really optimize my VGA while Ubunutu is not able although provided by the same kernell and the same mesa drivers.
