    More interestingly, you don't even need a ddx for the gpu you're offloading to. That means, unless it's used, X doesn't keep it "locked" and you can even unload the kernel module while X is running. Of course only, if both gpus use different ddx drivers like intel + amd.

    But the downside of dri3 offloading is massive tearing and other artifacts, depending on the application: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76367
