  • Last issue with udev and dri3 should be fixed: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=74127

So I'll probably enable dri3 also on 13.10 in the coming days.

About xorg drivers I won't provide them for 14.04 until at least xorg 1.15 is packaged, to avoid breakage during the transition.

    • If anyone is interested, I made a comparison between Ubuntu 14.04 + Oibaf PPA and openSUSE 13.1 + pontostroy:X11
OpenBenchmarking.org, Phoronix Test Suite, Linux benchmarking, automated benchmarking, benchmarking results, benchmarking repository, open source benchmarking, benchmarking test profiles

It is not easy make 7790 work on ubuntu. Opensuse provides /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/05-glamor.conf
      Code:
      Section "Module"
      	Load "dri2"
      	Load "glamoregl"
      EndSection
but on Ubuntu i must create a file and folder manually, and only after that I get hardware 3d.

      • Thanks for the test! Performance matches on 3d, while suse is better on 2d probably because it's using xorg 1.15, while Ubuntu still has 1.14.

About the radeonsi on Ubuntu it's probably a temporary breakage, due to Ubuntu updating ati and glamor packages recently.

        • 13.10 mesa package

I updated the 13.10 mesa package, notable changes are:
          • DRI3 support (FWIW);
          • using symlinks for megadrivers (smaller download and installed size).
          • synced with 14.04 package.

I updated. Valve games launch, framerate seems the same, but the ingame overlay no longer works.

              • wine can't initialize d3d9

First of all, thank you very much for your work, oibaf, in these graphics drivers.
Now, I have to report a problem.
Before last update, all games in wine was ok, but, after update, wine can't initialize d3d9 and games with 3d graphics no works.
Native linux games, in 3d or 2d, are ok (in steam or no steam),except that in linux steam, ingame overlay no works.

In Xorg.0.log file there are no errors
                In dmesg file nothing suspicious.
In syslog.log file apparently only segfaults:
                gameoverlayui[5687]: segfault at 0 ip 00000000f6f7e619 sp 00000000ffd21d70 error 4 in gameoverlayui.so[f6e47000+45a000]
                gameoverlayui[5712]: segfault at 0 ip 00000000f7029619 sp 00000000ffce37e0 error 4 in gameoverlayui.so[f6ef2000+45a000]
                gameoverlayui[5754]: segfault at 0 ip 00000000f7042619 sp 00000000ffa2b970 error 4 in gameoverlayui.so[f6f0b000+45a000]
My graphics card is a AMD HD4670 AGP

                Regards.

                • Hi, I'd suggest to open new bug reports for the three issues (missing overlay, wine crash and steam no longer launching) here: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Mesa

Eventually I could revert DRI3 enablement if it can't be fixed.

                  • As far as I know, no official DDX advertises DRI3 for the moment.

                    • I would report the Steam overlay segfault, but unfortunately their bugzilla never wants to send me the registration confirmation email. Hopefully someone else can. It's not a big enough issue to be revert-worthy right now.
