I bought an AMD GPU a couple of years ago, and it has been rock solid. I know that NVIDIA GPUs are more powerful, especially at certain tasks like ray-tracing, but for their insane price and lack proper open-source drivers they have just not been a viable option for me on Linux. These wonderful enhancements from the Mesa team and other contributors such as Valve have made my hardware only more capable over the years, wonderful, just wonderful!
