Many people would call it ancient.

These words have no value and no meaning when thrown around so flagrantly. I too think it is pitiful to call these cards "aging".

EDIT: These here, these are aging cards. https://www.phoronix.com/news/RADV-GFX6-GFX7-Vulkan-1.3

Still rocking my powercolor 5700xt card, doesn't feel old aside from occasionally having to set settings in some newer games to medium.

Thanks, I updated my post above. And this is good reinforcement for my ask that articles go beyond just using code names .

No gamer would use Rx 5600 or slower in 2024. Totally useless for 1440p.

I really like the RDNA 1 / 2 PowerColor Fighter series cards (5700 XT / 6700 XT) because they were one of the few AIB partner designs that were true 2 slot cards, both in terms of width but also having a normal height. I have a pair of their 6700 XT cards in my and my youngest son's desktops, and their 5700 XT in a "screwing around with stuff" system. Sadly their RDNA 3 7700 XT Fighter series moved to a 2.5 slot design .

1080p gaming is a thing you know, even on a > 1080p monitor . I actually wanted to do some testing of FSR 3 frame generation between RDNA 1 and RDNA 2. Later this week I'll try to do some quick 5700 XT vs 6700 XT testing at 1080p and 1440p with / without frame generation.

Amazing. I still have a RX 5700XT rocking, it still holds for 1080@144hz quite well.

But will this be enabled by defauit for my card? Reading this issue make me think that it will, but I don't know if I just have to wait to upgrade Mesa and that's it.

Also, my distro has different Mesa and Mesa Vulkan versions. I don't know which one of those should be at 24.3:

Sadly, FSR3 frame gen doesn't yet work well on RADV

I'm curious to see the results if you want to share.

My 6700 XT is also totally useless for 1440p in 2024 if I to use frame rates above 90hz with high settings

There's something to be said about using hardware within its capabilities and not at its limits.
