AMD doesn't care about consumer OpenCL support.
AMD is dropping Polaris (GCN4) OpenCL support.
Users have troubles with OpenCL on AMD GCN1 - GCN3.
Users have OpenCL support for Terascale 2 & 3 only via Clover, which is crap.

AMD provides open OpenCL drivers for Vega. Community needs OpenCL support for Terascale 2 & 3, especially for HD 5800 & 6900 series.

Good. Hopefully support for AMD GPUs will be forthcoming. It's about time there was a good out of the box OpenCL implementation like we now have for OpenGL and Vulkan. I look forward to giving rusticl a test...

If you're referring to ROCm, unfortunately my use case requires image support.
In the past I've made use of AMDGPU-PRO but it causes compatibility issues for me with some apps.

It gave Karol Herbst something to do while waiting for Nvidia to not obstruct the open source graphics stack.

It already does. I even pass the official conformance tests on 12th gen intel

nope, also works with llvmpipe, Nouveau and panfrost. But Intel is the only driver where I'd consider it to be stable enough to actually do stuff.

Yep. I needed like 1-2 months to do the real work. Everything else was just random fixes or trying things out.
