Phoronix: Panfrost Gallium3D Is Now Running Kodi & Some Games For This Open-Source Mali Driver

In the one year that the Panfrost Gallium3D driver has been coming together for open-source, reverse-engineered support for Arm Mali Midgard/Bifrost hardware, it's been making a lot of progress in what it's capable of running atop this Mesa driver...

And together with this: https://www.collabora.com/news-and-b...nfrost-driver/ it is a lot of info of the Panfrost driver working so much better.

I'm actually excited about this work, and glad that Alyssa can easily build on top of other peoples work to get things working easier and faster :-)

The dream is coming true. I wonder whether PowerVR will decide to release an open source driver or at least a public linux binary that you don't have to pay for. Hardly anyone licences their gpus, releasing a public linux driver would increase sales.

Panfrost is maturing right as we await the release of the first Pinebook Pro, which could greatly benefit from the project. Very good timing.

Wasnt the machine Alyssa was writing it all on a chromebook? If so how would the Pinebook benefit the development any more that that.

I do not understand your question. Pinebook Pro will use a Mali gpu that Panfrost is targeting.
