I have to say, there have been quite many Mesa news recently. Quick search shows 31 posts in 44 days. Only one minor version release during that time..

a question. How is it possible that despite of 18.0.1 mesa drivers opengl stucks on 3.0 opengl!? All the recent linux distros seem to have this issue. The vgas I use are rather modern supporting up to 4.6 opengl standards.

Azrael5 It's not. Are you looking in the Steam system information section? That's always been telling me 3.0 but it's wrong (compat profile probably). Run glxinfo instead. This is what I get:

        Code:
            Device: AMD Radeon (TM) R9 Fury Series (FIJI / DRM 3.20.0 / 4.13.0-kfd+, LLVM 6.0.0) (0x7300)
            Version: 18.0.2
            Accelerated: yes
            Video memory: 4060MB
            Unified memory: no
            Preferred profile: core (0x1)
            Max core profile version: 4.5
            Max compat profile version: 3.0
            Max GLES1 profile version: 1.1
            Max GLES[23] profile version: 3.1

I use to see the system info programs such as information center of KDe or at the chromium:gpu page. Chromium gpu page states opengl 3.0.

So what? It's a core component in Linux opensource graphics stacks

Many users use LTS distros which don't adopt changes as fast. The -rc news are less interesting.
