      Team Fortress 2 is like glxgears benchmark, now nobody cares, its like 1500 FPS in Quake 3 obsolete..

      Closed and Open driver is 10 percent, its same and probably because is missing same stability and robustness on side of open source drivers, i would to see some system crash reports form machines with Closed and Open Source Nvidia drivers.

          Is it possible the blob isn't even clocking it to the max speed since the game is so simple (and cpu bound), whereas the open drivers have forced it to run at max?

            Errrr....why people can't accept that clean room backengineering implementation implementaton might be faster? Nvidia has shitloads of legacy code crammed into driver.

              Because it's obviously not faster, in 99.9% of cases. The question is why it seems to be faster in this particular case.
