  • no direct rendering with fglrx

I tried out the new ati driver 8.10 and it's not working correctly with tv-out over composite and my PAL-TV it just won't load the PAL setting at startup either through xorg.conf or amdcccle same problem with 8.9 and 8.8 so now I'm on 8.7 which seems to work except the direct rendering which I just don't get to work.

I'm using a onboard radeon x1250 on mythbuntu 8.04 x64 and use tv-out to feed my pal-TV over composite.

    Any suggestions?
Or maybe I should try older drivers, which one would be the best for dri, emulators using opengl and video over composite tv-out to my pal-tv?

Not all of the information needed to solve this is provided... can you please supply the following log outputs...

    dmesg | grep fglrx

    and

    lspci | grep VGA

this is needed to help because of the following lines i read in your xorg log.
    Code:
(WW) fglrx(0): Failed to open DRM connection
(WW) fglrx(0): board is an unknown third party board, chipset is supported
(WW) fglrx(0): Only one display is connnected,so single mode is enabled
(WW) fglrx(0): No DRM connection for driver fglrx.

I actually have the exact same problem with opensuse 11.0 with an ati 1600x on a hp nx9420 laptop.

here's the info that you could use:

      linux-6glc:/home/moustafah # dmesg | grep fglrx
      linux-6glc:/home/moustafah # lspci | grep VGA
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M56P [Radeon Mobility X1600]
