They almost certainly have very similar architectures, so if it works with the Frontier edition it should at least give some support to RX Vega.

i have a multihead config with a vega frontier using the staging 4.11, there is no acceleration though, but it's good enough for video, the terminal and web surfing.

Sometime it would be great to see the Vulkan benchmarks compared not only to RadV but also to equivalent Nvidia card.
e.g. rx580 amdgpu pro vs GTX 1060 on Nvidia proprietary driver.
or R9 290 amdgpu pro vs GTX 970 on Nvidia proprietary driver

Will give us a good idea of where Nvidia and AMD stand relative to each other with their official Vulkan drivers.

Well the Nvidia Linux Vulkan performance is pretty close to Windows. The AMD Vulkan performance on either Linux stack still needs some work. Keep in mind that the AMD cards you mentioned trounce those Nvidia cards using Vulkan on Windows. That probably wouldn't be interesting until they merge DC/DAL and get a more common code base.

Well the gaming performance on Windows on the Frontier Edition card is cause for concern on Windows already...... I don't think the Linux performance is going to be pretty.... The hope is that the RX cards are different.

Vega Frontier Edition aimed for professional environment not gaming. It is like comparing Nvidia Quadro 4000 (the actual target for Vega Frontier Edition) with a Geforce GTX 1080 TI.
