I'm running a 5870 at work with 6 mini-DP outputs - and I'm using every one of them for my wall of 1920x1200 monitors (all rotated on the side). Wonderful card. So happy to see it's still getting improvements.

It'd be cool to see the FP64 emulation code which is used on i965 ported to AMD's pre-FP64 hardware. It'd be nice to have GL 4.2 (or 4.5!) on this hardware before these hardware platforms go into maintenance mode (removed from mesa HEAD, and maintained separately).

Afaik pre-r600 hardware is just designed with dramatically different philosophy than reasonably modern things all the way down. I doubt these drivers (r600 and newer) are going away any time soon

Again, 'you' read what David, Elie and I wrote (here)?

I can use LLVM pipe / softpipe to test the code.
Moreover, Andreas Boll helps me to test the code. He own a r600g card.

So, now 'you' all know. ;-)

I'm still using a HD 6850. In some ways, it's comparable to gen1 PS4's GPU. Still much faster than integrated graphics.

Power is quite reasonable, with Max TDP listed at about 127 W.

                Oh, and thanks.

BTW, I've got a HD 7870, as well, but it's a cheap XFX card and sounds like my PC's about to lift off when you get it cranking. For 3D desktop & fairly light-duty graphics, I much prefer this HD 6850.

Thanks a lot for working on older hardware airlied.
Still have 2 computers on my family running hd 5000 hardware.
