    asdfgh this is part of kernel panic msg?
    And you use next-drm-4.9-wip one?

      Oh, Michael probably get drm-next-4.9, kernel panic on shutdown should be fixed for SI in 4.9-rc1, patch for that issue is part of final 4.8 IIRC

        hd 7850 1 gb

        In fresh netinstall testing -> upgrade to unstable -> installing this kernel .deb:
        dmesg | grep amdgpu (found +- 10 line, 0 for radeon)
        startx ->
        1- kms amdgpu enable etc
        2- error "amdgpu: unknow family"

        I forget something ?

          frosth I have failure not on shutdown, but on X11 start. But I'll wait for 4.9 rc1 to recheck.

            Does anyone know when the AMDGPU driver will be enabled by default in Linux mainline kernel for Southern Islands/Sea Islands GPUs?

              asdfgh apperently it's different problem than mine, so i can't help, sorry.
              kripteks mayby old xf86-video-amdgpu or libdrm? you could try uninstall ddx(or tweak your xorg.conf) and try it with generic X driver (modesetting)

                  if it's xorg.log's part then you have old amdgpu, update it or uninstall.

                      I check, libdrm,xorg,xserver-xorg,xserver-xorg-core,xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu, ubuntu and debian unstable have same version (debian have generaly just more minor version).

                      The question is, Micheal compiled manually drm/amdgpu from web or he used ubuntu/debian packages.

                      Here is my xorg log: http://pastebin.com/v5enQ67p
