Well, Ubuntu 16.04.1 is out, and 14.04 installations are being prompted to upgrade. I know enough to not upgrade until there's AMDGPU-PRO OpenCL support for my HD7970 (I like to toy with LuxRender), but I expect that there will be issues with others.

Any news on the status of AMDGPU-PRO for OpenCL 1.0 cards?

There are a number of fixes, but dpm is still not working.

you don't need x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati for amdgpu support
