Is Intel and Nvidia using DRI3 yet?

When can we start purging all the DRI2 code from X.org Server?

Not soon. This is the first DDX that turns on DRI3 by default! Everyone else is still on DRI2.

When all drivers been rewritten and all drivers to use DRI3.
I think that won't happen any time soon if at all.
        There's still DRI1

In facts, it is not really putting DRI3 defaults in the Xorg driver. It is... enabling it.

Mesa does default to it when it is enabled, thus why the end result for user is that DRI3 becomes default.

The motives behind the move may be to enable the Vulkan driver to work. It has already been stated it is using DRI3, which fits Vulkan well.
