AFAIK the r500+ series don't have the traditional video overlay anymore, so Xv is bound to work fine together with compiz.
What's missing for r300/400 at the moment is automatic disabling of the traditional overlay when a compositing manager is active... agd5f, are you listening?

ATI blob gives tearing and makes my HTPC unstable. So I can live with missing 3D function. I just want XV support and stable driver..
