Phoronix: Ubuntu 15.04 Offers Faster OpenGL For AMD Radeon GPUs On Open-Source

Intel Haswell Linux users are greeted by relatively modest performance changes with Ubuntu 15.04 while those using AMD Radeon graphics cards on the open-source R600 and RadeonSI Gallium3D drivers have much more to look forward to when upgrading to this week's release of Ubuntu 15.04. Here's some Ubuntu 14.10 vs. Ubuntu 15.04 OpenGL benchmarks for a range of AMD Radeon graphics cards.

Is there a way to switch between two AMD GPUs on a Laptop (integrated-dedicated) without FGLRX?

        not really an interesting range

"... an interesting range of old and new AMD hardware."
With twice Pitcairn/Cura?ao but 0 Sea Islands and 0 Volcanic Islands not really an interesting range.

VI doesn't work yet with any foss drivers...

...not official kernel, drm, mesa release with VI support..
there is some bits for custom build but nothing is ready for stable (lts) distro.
no dpm for VI = no performance = we do not need any bench yet.

          btw
I have old SI card.. so it is very interesting for me.

You are right, but instead of 2 Pitcairn/Cura?ao, 1 Southern Islands (e. g. Pitcairn/Cura?ao) and 1 Sea Islands would have been a much more interesting range of AMD hardware.

As i see it this comparison is hyperz and no hyperz diff mostly As 10.3 dos not have it enabled that and also perf might be lately regressed a bit - all in all that is basically it.

But yeah of course Micheal should pick one card per gen, this is only VLIW5/GCN1.0... there are 3 VLIW5 cards but no VLIW4 tested, similary there are 2 GCN 1.0 cards but no GCN 1.1 tested.

Likely in next Ubuntu if that means "market" for you, otherwise probably august/september... just in time when llvm 3.8 git only will fix some other radeonsi issues

Means 15.04 uses LLVM version 3.6 and the bug is fixed in LLVM 3.7GIT

There are other ppa's that already have it.

If your question is when oibaf will support it, then you'd have to ask him.
