  • boosted trinity performance, might help some on AMD APU's

Ok, really simple. I just disabled my turbo boost feature on the bios for my A10-5800k. The FPS is no longer juddery on my source engine games and i seem to have gained another 20-30fps.

I ran a benchmark called sysbench

    apt-get install sysbench
    sysbench --test=cpu --cpu-max-prime=20000 run

and my APU went from 16secs completion to 13 !

changing the overclock from 4.2ghz to 4.4ghz with turbo made zero difference and was actually a tad slower. I havent messed with cool and quiet, id rather keep that on.

Im thinking there might be some sort of core stepping issue with AMD Trintiy and probably Richland. Seriously my whole system is way snapier and the games are better now. Maybe i just need to enable a feature manually from terminal, but as a nooby user i think its easier to go into bios and disable turbo.

    btw my system is

    4.4 A10-5800k
    8gb 1600Mhz RAM
    Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon
    3.13.0-24-generic
    xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:7.3.0-1ubuntu3.1

    Thanks
