I quote what they write for the current beta version, distributions support is of course not the same for current drivers and within 13.1, 9.3 and 8.28 legacy Catalyst drivers .

Yes i know you (or your distribution package maintainer) need *something* to do, when distribution is not listed as supported .

I have 3 HTPC's and after AMD drop Support for this Cards (HD3650M, HD3850 and Hd 4200) i have to switch back to Windows for it.
Let's say fair AMD legacy drivers are pretty crappy on Windows too:
    • One distributed with Windows 8 / 8.1 don't have OpenGL support.
And their installer from website fail to replace built-in drivers automatically.
    • There is a lot of OpenGL bugs that aren't fixed.
    • HD3XXX have GPU lockups that freeze Windows completely.

And yeah latest real update was released more than a year ago and only fixed some problems for CoH2, so we can count them as abandoned drivers too. On Linux there at least some chance that problems will be fixed while on Windows there just no way to use those GPUs in many cases.

I know that, and that just means to me "We does not support rolling linux distros" . But that is the case even for regular releases, they didn't support software version XYZ but actual distros and versions... from the latest beta:

    Linux Distributions Supported:
The AMD Catalyst? 14.6 Beta Driver for Linux is designed to support the following Linux distributions:

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Suite 6.4 and 6.5
    SUSE? Linux Enterprise 11 SP3
    openSUSE 13.1
    Ubuntu 12.04.4 and 14.04
That does not mean that will not work on Linux from Scratch install, but users mainly have self support there . So that is it, if you don't use these distributions and these versions of distributions, your mileage may vary .

What we said is that yes, we have done a lot of work on it, yes there's been a lot of progress, yes there is still some work to do before we can release, yes we're still working on it, and like EVERY OTHER SCRAP OF OPEN SOURCE SUPPORT WE HAVE RELEASED IN THE LAST SEVEN YEARS we won't know until we're finished if & when we will be able to release it.
Well, thank you. You are making much progress despite the hassles.

I said go and by Intel Atom with PowerVR graphics, you should be amazed by support from Intel... resselers has planty of them in stock . Or if you want ARM you should buy nVidia tegra k1 which has good hardware on paper, but on software side you should be amazed because they are not there yet neither is performance of a blob . Even if you go for Mips, lemote from example you will again got your AMD RS780

Clearly all vendors have some kind of inconstency here and there . So from what vendor you want to buy without rethinking what you want .

No, I checked the fglrx driver which, as we all know, let down anyone before HD5xxx, in a sudden move that could not be foreseen by anyone, especially when at that time mainboards and laptops with RS880 where still plenty and in many new machines, especially those from OEMs.

Enough guessing from me i don't live in 2022. they do not even released last stuff and i am predict dropped support shame on me , but that looks to me pretty predictible how things goes .

Well, this is great, but... sadly, AVC1/AVC/VC1, or however is called, is a bit "limited" in the FOSS driver, at least temporarily.

Lol, you shouldn't reply to trolls and repeat yourself once and once again, simply post a link/quote to your other posts.
You have talkied about this many times, and people keep repeating the same lies...
Just give them this link: http://www.phoronix.com/forums/showt...0-and-RV790%29
