Michael please consider running the tests(or at least the tweaked configuration) with vblank_mode=0 when testing at high resolution.

I am getting 46fps in openarena 0.8.8 with vblank_mode=0 and pcie_gen2=1 compared to the 20-30fps in the 2012 May test...

But I am running vanilla Ubuntu 12.4 with xorg-edgers, SwapBuffersWait=0, ColorTiling=1, ColorTiling2D=1, vblank_mode=0, pcie_gen2=1 and getting almost twice fps!!!

Looks like I've let irritate myself by the local vdrift vblank_mode numbers. The difference must be solely due to pcie_gen2=1 then?

Hopefully AMD will catch up with Intel when it comes to their open source drivers.

While Intel has an insanly fast 2D acceleration architecture (SNA), AMD still uses EXA which likes to copy pixmap data arround like mad, instead executing the requested operations
Hopefully the Gallium3D based DDX will solve these problems - hopefully not only for CGN.

And while Intel's OpenGL driver on Linux is more or less compareable to the closed-source counterpart, the open-source AMD opengl drivers lack a lot of features and performance.
