Next time, when something doesn't work on AMD, because of NV drivers... Yep, NV drivers allow developers to write bugged code which will not work on AMD. I know that this is funny situation, but I know what I say, AMD drivers are more times better when we see at point "compliance with the ogl specification without vendor BONUS, which are vendor dependent...". I hope that in future Gnome Team will debug Your code on both AMD and NV cards or on AMD only, because now it looks like they check it only under NV cards (which is very bad solution).

Maybe for end user NV drivers under Linux are betters than AMD, but for programmers situation is different (only when You knew an ogl specification very good, You can use NV cards, but mistake is a normal thing, so I still think that AMD is a better choice for this job).

What generation of your Intel GPU? Ironlake or Sandy?

Sandy Bridge. It's a Core i7-2630QM with an AMD Radeon HD 6770M. When I bought it I didn't think it would work so well in linux.

I may be wrong here, but AFAIK there are some incompatibilities with Gnome Shell and fglrx.

Believe me, Ive tried both. This is the way that I've always did.

Download the driver from AMD. Install some dependencies like fakeroot and stuff. Create the packages for Ubuntu/precise via terminal (fglrx, amdcccle, dev). Install the packages with "dkms -i" and finally "sudo aticonfig --initial -f". This is the way it always worked for me.

Well, it didnt work, so I remove them from Synaptics (the same way Ive always did too). Then tried the synaptics fglrx packages. Did not work either

Im using Ubuntu 12.04 32bit Gnome shell, and cant remember the Kernel, it is the one who provides the updates manager

Did you install the driver from the AMD site or the one from the Ubuntu repository (which is also 12.4)?

It works on Ubuntu 12.04 32bit with Gnome Shell?, Ive tried and it send me an error when Ive trying to login on Gnome Shell, says "failed to load gnome". Anyone? what am I doing wrong?

It used to work well on my Ubuntu 10.04, but now apparently sucks

This driver still needs to be patched for kernel 3.2.8 and higher, although the simple patch was released on this forums over two months ago. Nice work, AMD, this is how to drive people away from buying your hardware.

and does the wake up from sleep work with the default Radeon driver (not Catalyst)? On my desktop computer with AsRock motherboard neither works (maybe because of my cheap motherboard). On my notebook with Radeon IGP 3200 the default driver works (have no idea if Catalyst 12.4 would work too).

under radeon drivers my laptop wakes from sleep perfectly every time. However my laptop can over heat under heavy use when using radeon drivers so i use catalyst drivers.

Working fine here in a muxless intel+amd HP laptop. Suspends ok, switches ok from intel to amd and back, good performance. No major complaints apart from no xorg-server-1.12 support.
