    WOW, for a moment I thought I can watch video files smoothly, but i can't.
    And this crappy "testing only" -- I can safely assure you that the transparent stripes, that I used to talk about here and this sign are, totally related.

    A masterpiece it is

      the build and install was straightforward, and it's running and
      working on my Fedora 7 system. but XVideo isn't working, and neither
      is OpenGL(seems to be using the Mesa library).

        Any errors in your /var/log/Xorg.0.log?

            World of Warcraft isn't working with 8.39.4

            It is hanging when trying to enter the World, and I get this error on my terminal:

            fglX11AllocateManagedSurface: __FGLTexMgrAllocMem failed!!

            The Xorg.0.log file is interesting:

            (II) fglrx(0): Depth moves disabled by default
            (==) fglrx(0): Capabilities: 0x00000000
            (==) fglrx(0): CapabilitiesEx: 0x00000000
            (**) fglrx(0): cpuFlags: 0x8000001d
            (==) fglrx(0): OpenGL ClientDriverName: "fglrx_dri.so"
            (**) fglrx(0): ATI GART size: 128 MB
            (II) fglrx(0): [pcie] 126976 kB allocated with handle 0xdeadbeef
            (II) fglrx(0): [drm] DRM buffer queue setup: nbufs = 100 bufsize = 65536
            (**) fglrx(0): UseFastTLS=2
            (==) fglrx(0): BlockSignalsOnLock=1
            (==) fglrx(0): EnablePrivateBackZ = NO

            Call me suspicious, but "0xdeadbeef" doesn't look like a valid handle to me!

              Michael,

              for XVideo, i have:

              (II) Loading extension XVideo
              (II) Loading extension XVideo-MotionCompensation

              and nothing more than that. but that message indicates that it
              should work.

              for openGL, this may be something:

              (EE) AIGLX error: dlopen of /usr/lib/dri/fglrx_dri.so failed (/usr/lib/dri/fglrx_dri.so: undefined symbol: __glXFindDRIScreen)
              (EE) AIGLX: reverting to software rendering
              (II) Loading local sub module "GLcore"
              (II) LoadModule: "GLcore"
              (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions//libGLcore.so
              (II) Module GLcore: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
              compiled for 1.3.0, module version = 1.0.0
              ABI class: X.Org Server Extension, version 0.3
              (II) GLX: Initialized MESA-PROXY GL provider for screen 0

              ...

              (EE) DoSwapInterval: cx = 0xa33f620, GLX screen = 0x9585d20
              (EE) AIGLX: cx->pGlxScreen->swapInterval == NULL

              ---

              let me know if you'd like the entire log file.

              thanks,
              sam

                "Dazed and confused"???

                I have found this message in my kernel log:

                ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:01:00.0[A] -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 16
                Uhhuh. NMI received for unknown reason b1 on CPU 0.
                You have some hardware problem, likely on the PCI bus.
                Dazed and confused, but trying to continue

                I haven't enabled NMI because it makes the laptop's ACPI video functionality hang, so I don't know where this NMI came from.

                      Driver works fine here on Fedora Rawhide with Kernel "2.6.21-1.3244.fc8".

                      ...i can not test the recent kernel, 2.6.23-0.30.rc0.git6.fc8, because of a "kernel panic"
