    was added to R600g that somehow wasn't available on R300g.

    so that it could be left in the dust by xf86-video-ati afterwards. But r300
    r600 split was not a surprise for me, because i expected it. Call it a hunch.

    The graphics is not always ugly. Sometimes AF may not necessarily improve visual quality, but it may cost quite a lot of performance. Only apps should determine when it *can* be used, not users.

    I thought that the control panel was "driconf"?

    I don't know if this particular option is in there, but that's what Mesa drivers use.
