  • KDE's 4.5.1 desktop effects: blur doesn't work with R600c

I read blur works with latest mesa snapshots, but it doesn't
    Can someone else confirm it?

    P.S.
I obviously disabled the checks and removed R600c from the blacklist.

System Settings doesn't allow you to disable all checks.

Discussion of Mesa / Gallium3D components for Linux and other operating systems. This includes open-source 3D hardware drivers, state trackers, OpenCL, OpenGL, Vulkan, and SPIR-V support.

    Edit:
    KDE 4.5.1

I'm using the following from Git:

        media-libs/mesa
        x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati
        x11-libs/libdrm
        x11-proto/dri2proto
        x11-proto/glproto

(When updating "proto" packages, everything else has to build against it. Though I don't know whether protos from Git is actually needed here.)

The rest is not Git (xserver for example is 1.9.0.) Kernel is 2.6.35.

There is no need of dri2proto-9999 and glproto-9999 anymore.
Anyway I tried both from git but it didn't help.

May it be a kernel issue?

No idea :-/ Are you using KMS? I'm pretty sure UMS doesn't work.

It should work with a completely new user. Try it.

If that works, find and delete kwinrc and try again. I had some trouble due to the (incorrect and unnecessary!) blacklist in there. After deleting kwinrc and starting from scratch, I could set up everything, including blur. Using r600c from git on an rv710.

r600g doesn't do KDE effects for me at this time.
