  • ATI Drivers scrambled on Radeon 5770, once worked

Hi, I haven't did a lot of configuring or doing anything, but use other distros, osx86 (just to experiment) not on my system. Drivers worked previously when using Ubuntu (64-bit) to the osx86 but now doesn't. The drivers are still working on the Windows XP / 7 side but no go after trying propietary linux drivers in all Ubuntu 64 bit and various ATI up to Catayst 10.9. After install, it gives funny output.

Right now I am sitting on generic ATI and 10.10 beta 32 bit with full rez.

    Any help greatly appreciated,
    Andy

    Sorry for the miss info,

I am trying to get the ATI drivers to get to work on linux (Ubuntu) again.
Right now, I am using generic Ubuntu drivers (not ATI, once again, sorry for the misunderstaning). I am not going back to osx86 any time soon.

    Thanks,
    Andy

      Sorry for the miss info,

I meant to say that I'm trying to get the ATI drivers for Ubuntu working again. As of right now, I am not going back to osx86 and will continue to use Ubuntu. I am using generic drivers in 10.10 beta, not fglrx ATI.

Thanks, and sorry for the misunderstanding,
      Andrew

The three posts you made were more than confusing! So which driver and OS are you using?
To me it seams like you use:
          OS: Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat
          Driver: radeon
          Driver version: ???

if this is true you are in the wrong forum here ... This is all about the fglrx (catalyst) driver.

You should start using correct terms, version numbers and abbreviations, otherwise nobody can and will help you. Btw, both driver (radeon and fglrx are developed by ATI/AMD)

Perhaps this format would be better:

            Currently using:
            Video: generic (Ubuntu supplied)
            Operating System: Ubuntu 10.10 beta

            Wanting to configure:
            Video: ATI fglrx driver (any)
Operating System: Ubuntu 10.04 or Ubuntu 10.10

The problem is that we don't know what "generic" means in this context. Is that what your xorg log says you are running ?

Can you maybe pastebin your xorg log ?
