You can be sure it is broken. Has nothing to do with vlc/mplayer. xbmc is a bit broken however even with hd 4. Also they did NOT fix things that they mention on in the changelog.

"Glxgears/fgl_glxgears" full screen application may still remain on the desktop after they are closed using X button

You do not even need fullscreen, windowed is enough when you force vsync on to see that error with Kanotix Excalibur (Xserver 1.4.2).

Vlc is bullshit Windows oriented software. I use native Linux apps with vaapi, and it fails.

oh really? and because of that it uses a nice crossplatform toolkit? because it is so windows oriented?

Just look at the interface. It's horrible.

And these are just the "simple" settings. I'm sure it is in violation of at least a dozen GNOME HIG Guidelines. And what's up with all these cones

no, it is ok. Besides, how often do you have to change any settings? Seriously?

It is a lot better than mplayer with its arcane keys.

... as if gnome hig were of any relevance at all. Really. That's just ONE GROUP's *opinion* of the way they want things. It doesn't mean that they're right, or even that they are any better than anyone else.

Quite frankly, how much do you really need to mess with the settings?

And how exactly do you figure that other media player's config interfaces are any better? gmplayer and xine are atrocious!

.... or you just like punching in text? In which case I ask you why you don't watch your videos in binary...? cat somefile.mkv.... Right -- need the pictures to make it a pleasant experience.

Its a bit of an impossible position you're taking here. ALL media players have horrible interfaces and a media player that is console only is kinda lame.

Kanotix is not a supported OS, so you have absolutely no right to complain. Go use Ubuntu man.
