  • Radeon benchmarks galore!

Alex Deucher asked me to test a patch in a bugreport and I got a bit
carried away and did a lot of benchmarks. :-)
Now that I've made them, I thought someone else might find them interesting!

    Data:
    Bug: http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26225
    The test: http://alteredqualia.com/visualization/evolve/
    Fix: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/dri...00849f27cc5d63
    Microbenchmark: x11perf -getimage500
    Card: Radeon 4770 pcie

The interesting numbers are for noaccel and lucid firefox 3.7a3,
specially if you compare them to karmic.

    Regards
    /Ernst

    glxgears is extremely resolution bound.

glxgears is in the standard small window size, you mean that it's bound to the resolution of my screen? note that compiz is turned off.
anyway, it's mostly there as an indication of whether direct rendering works or not.

nice gtkperf score! looks very similar to my noaccel score, and I get 3.0 with noaccel and the "Mist" theme. sure you have acceleration? xserver 1.6 or 1.7? of course you have a lot faster processor!

Since I use a tiling wm (ion3) its always stretched to the window I open it in. Sadly I can not edit my post above.

with the default windows size on an untiled desktop I get

        glxgears 839

          Code:
          glxinfo | grep vendor
          dmesg | grep -A 2 radeon | grep -A 2 firmware
          ?
That sounds like software rendering then.

nope, glxgears has always been slow for me. I'll do some tests with my other cards too.
