Is AMDVLK an alternative to Mesa, or can you use these drivers together? If not, which driver is faster or better?

It is an alternative to RADV which is part of mesa, mesa is a group of drivers for different hardware support, llvmpipe (OpenGL accel on the CPU), nouveau, radeonsi, etc.

As always, your mileage may vary (Game you play, hardware configuration, etc), see this Phoronix article, https://www.phoronix.com/review/amdvlk-radv-rx7900 and if you care about RT performance, check this other Phoronix article, https://www.phoronix.com/review/amdvlk-radv-rt
