    r6xx 3D games

The gears milestone thread is getting a little long so let's start one for tracking 3D game performance with git changes.

With changes of last 2-3 days there is noticeable improvement in eduke32 and sdlquake2.

eduke32 with video option set to 32 bit doesn't have any flickering now but you can still see enemies and flames behind walls.

sdlquake2 with video set to 1024x768 opengl doesn't have flickering now. Preliminary observation is that when bullets fired and hit target a square colored graphic is displayed instead of the more expected image.

Still these are very good improvements and the framerate is fast enough to play these early 3D games even with 780g integrated hd3200.

Now I think that it isn't a problem with r600 driver. I tried the game with LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1. It worked very slow, because it used software rasterizer (swrast_dri.so). The problem was still there - it must be a problem with mesa in general. Maybe adjusting wine settings would help, I'll try these too.

Unfortunately I have no original CD (I bought a magazine some time ago which had this game on its CD, but doesn't work with Loki installer).

I can't see any message from driver/wine/game, so I don't know what to do. I tried nearly all video options and nothing changed.
    Have you ever tried this?

im actually suprised it even feels playable!
this means there is only powermanagement left on my "ati oss driver"-wishlist until i can use it on my notebook!

    btw:
does editing posts work for anybody?
