I see why Valve and other appliance IHVs would find this valuable for their brand image, but as the operator of a desktop PC, and occasional support person for other people's PCs, the motherboard vendor's logo persisting on screen long after the firmware has passed control to the bootloader just seems misleading. What if it hangs and makes it look like the wrong party is responsible?

Maybe I just can't read but which generations of gpus are currently supported?

One of the patches said that with the switch it could be enabled right back to DCN 1.0 (Raven Ridge and Picasso APUs based on Zen/Zen+), and presumably DCN 2.0 (RX 5x00 series). They're waiting on people to report whether it actually works before changing the default.

I use text mode in boot, all this "innovation" doesn't affect my computer.
