AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX + RX 7900 XT Linux Support & Performance

Phoronix: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX + RX 7900 XT Linux Support & Performance

Today's the day that the embargo expires on being able to provide reviews on the AMD Radeon RX 7900 series graphics cards... After testing both the Radeon RX 7900 XT and RX 7900 XTX graphics cards the past two weeks, today I have the initial performance numbers to share on these graphics cards and the current state of the open-source Linux graphics driver for these first RDNA3 graphics cards. Here is the first look at AMD's new flagship desktop Radeon graphics cards running under Linux with fully upstream and open-source graphics drivers.

Beware of the multimonitor idle power consumption: I hope it's an issue which can be remedied in software.

Great review, unfortunately without the Nvidia 4000 series in there its a bit of a moot review. If the AMD 7000 series could not beat the Nvidia 3000 series they would be in REALLY bad shape regardless of cost. As it stands the 7900 XTX has a reasonable lead over a 3090, thats good to see, but its not a "great leap forward".

Would really like to see some ROCm vs CUDA... does ROCm have any support for the AMD 7000 series yet?

How does idle power consumption look on linux? Some reviews on Windows pointed to a pretty high value, 83W GPU power for a 4k 144Hz monitor in 2D desktop use.

Navi 31 is here! The new $999 Radeon RX 7900 XTX in this review is AMD's new flagship card based on the wonderful chiplet technology that made the Ryzen Effect possible. In our testing we can confirm that the new RX 7900 XTX is indeed faster than the GeForce RTX 4080, but only with RT disabled...

Michael It looks like the 1440p Q2RTX results use the 4k fps for AMD cards? (they are the same as the 4k results with denoiser on and ray queries in the later graph)

Is the maximum desktop size of the RX 7000 cards still 16384x16384 pixels, or has the limit been removed?

Compared to Windows, seems RT performance has some room for improvement. Otherwise looks pretty promising, but I too would also like to see it against the RTX 4000 series.
