my laptop has a 4500u cpu. lspci shows amd audio but why does alsamixer shows realtek alc287?
i have a ati r6xx hdmi in that list also but i'm not using hdmi.
Does these APU needs an audio card on the motherboard in order to provide audio over hdmi? or these APU has audio too but only for HDMI output?
i'm really confuse about why lspci showing only amd audio and alsamixer showing 2 chipsets realtek and ati

There are multiple audio controllers on the platform; one for headphone jacks, etc. and one for HDMI/DP audio. The HDA controller or ACP controller are basically just DMA and i2s controllers. They are attached to CODECs from Realtek, Cirrus, etc. that provide the audio capabilities.

Maybe more will be disclosed at CES in January, or as the Steam Deck starts getting into more hands in December.
