I got my MSI Gaming RX480 in February 2017 (see my join date) and it’s been a game changer for me. Really helped my passion for Linux explode.

Before that I had a GeForce 650Ti that I got when I built my Haswell rig in 2014 and I was just running standard Debian.

My system is flying these days so I’m staying out until at least DDR5. Running Ubuntu 20.04 LTS customized and happy as hell.

I've been using amdgpu so I don't care. Now that China is trying to put an end to crypto mining, I might be able to finally afford to replace my aging R9 290 anyway.

Who cares if AMD ends support for anything older then RX 400 series in their official driver. This isn't Nvidia where you are then stuck on some outdated DIstro/Kernel/Packages because the Kernel and Mesa get you covered.

Maybe will they keep the code but with no new features enabled for them?
