do you still only have 56K analog modem internet? you really should try the TESLA satalite internet you get like 100MBPS with good ping you could even play counter strike from the good ping.

Wow, the ROCm related posts gather a crowd now, don't they!

First, liked the article, watched the fosdem presentation, that was good stuff. Now, on to the fun stuff, i.e. ROCm and how they really dropped the ball regarding gaining any prosumer mindshare.

I've got a yearly budget of $10000 for equipment, at my work, no questions asked, and over the years I've sent quite a bit of that over to AMD (Ryzen & Threadrippers rock, thanks for that). 2021, I decide to test out ROCm (Tensorflow, pytorch). My results:

1. Radeon rx480 / rx580 support was withdrawn. Even when it was supported, it was buggy.
2. Radeon Vega64: Pytorch was bugged, spent 3 months on a github issue waiting until it was resolved.
3. Radeon VII: The only one that worked.

So, for most of 2021 the only setup that worked was a card EOL'd in 2019. This is ..not how you gain mindshare.

Anyway! This year's budget then:

1. one W6800 pro
2. one RTX A5000

Look what you did AMD, you made me give money to the leather jacket man after a decade or so. Sorry, I just could not afford having a card not working (or randomly stop working) due to poor software support. You're leaving money and growth opportunities on the table. Here's hoping you'll improve.
