If you mean the built-in notebook screen, that depends on what interface the screen is using. xrandr can get you the interface type, more than likely, but it won't tell you the version. You can look at the date the laptop was made and if it's too old for 2.1, you're good... but otherwise maybe the notebook manufacturer will get you that info if you contact them? Or just wait for the patch and test it.

        It's HDMI 2.0 version, so I presume It'll work once it's patched

I only have to check how can I know if it's working and how to configure (I'm using Wayland), but now I'm hopeful!

Ditched HDMI with my latest monitor upgrade. Using DP only, one 4K monitor and one FullHD. No problems whatsoever

The LG CX series of TV's make a very strong case for using a TV+HDMI setup as a desktop/gaming pc monitor.
However min size is 48" which is probably too big for most people. I use a 40" atm so going to 48" is doable.... if the price of these monitors weren't a bit ridiculous here in Australia.

Why isn't anyone asking the real question - when will this be supported by the default radeon mesa drivers (forgot what they're called) which are the de facto standard on Linux? I'm not switching to amdgpu just for this.

also why people are stuck on hdmi. just move forward and improve displayport. people will have to change their monitors in a few years anyway. its time to improve that displayport
HDMI is like the old VGA port, it is literally everywhere.

What is great about these AMD related posts is that it is obvious that they now have money to drive R&D and driver development. Even a couple of years ago we wouldn't even be discussing support for older features. Now we are getting progress every month - BEAUTIFUL.

I do not think DP will appear on TVs anytime soon - although we can hope - but I am not holding my breath. If IIRC, one of the reasons for that is Digital Right Management that can utilized with HDMI but not so much with DisplayPort. I could be wrong, but I believe that that is a major reason why many media devices (Blu-Rays, DVDs, and TVs) do not utilized DisplayPort.

You are completely correct. Ryzen and Epyc have certainly helped their bottom line as has the improvement in the dGPUs. It is good to see some of that bottom line going into the open source world.
