Sorry, I'm not taking that right-wing media clickbait. The political Right is using the same playbook to demonize social media as they use against the press. They're afraid of any way they can be held to account. They realize that their policies aren't in the interests of the vast majority of people, so the only way they can hold power is if they can dominate the message. Control of the media is basically page 1 of the fascist playbook, and it's no coincidence that the US Constitution put freedom of the press in the First Amendment. You cannot have self-governance in the interest of the people, without an informed electorate.

Whether or not they do is actually irrelevant, because they are not the government. The Constitution is the charter of our government, and it's the job of the government to implement it -- not private corporations or individuals.

But, they're creatures of the law in the same way that fish are creatures of the water. Corporations are entirely legal constructs, so claiming they don't believe in the foundation of the entire legal framework doesn't even make any sense. It strikes me as a troll-style remark simply meant to derail the discussion.

Not because of ideological reasons, but because they're liable for illegal content on their platforms. And after the Jan. 6th insurrection, they can no longer consider talk of overthrowing the government or overturning the election to be idle grumbling. At that point some of it crosses into the legal definition of conspiracy to commit a crime, which is itself illegal.

Basically, these folks have themselves to blame for getting de-platformed, but they just can't accept it. Instead, they use their ace card, which is to cast themselves as the victims.

Anyone calling for illegal actions is not getting banned? Then report them and they should.

No, you misread me, then. I'm all for freedom of speech, but there are two important points you seem to be missing:

1. The Bill of Rights limits the actions of the government, not private corporations or individuals.
2. Freedom of speech has never meant a right to incite violence or insurrection. You also can't make baseless claims about someone (that's called slander & libel, and they can sue you for it), or say things which jeopardize national security.

So, if you don't have a platform to say what you like, and it's not illegal (as per the above), then setup your own platform.
