Phoronix: Virtual DCN / SR-IOV Display Support Being Worked On For AMDGPU In Linux 5.6

In going through the AMDGPU kernel driver changes currently queuing ahead of the Linux 5.6 cycle, "virtual DCN" support is coming in working on SR-IOV display support...

Still no news regarding ability to create one virtual GPU with consumer AMD GPUs? It shouldn't hurt their server products at all (as server market require at least 4+ virtual GPU per physical GPU) but will be very convenient for their regular customers.

What the hell is this crap? Still not GPU virtualization for consumer GPUs?

From almost three years ago now, #radeon on freenode:

15:58 < agd5f> grmat, VM pass through should work on any card. SR-IOV support requires special hardware
15:58 < agd5f> intel may have similar limitations
16:10 < Remco> So SR-IOV requires special hardware. On the board or in the chip?
16:11 < Remco> As in might we see consumer cards with it?
        16:17 < agd5f> Remco, on the chip
16:17 < grmat> Remco: in the GPU itself, I think Tonga (R9 285/380(X)) was the first capable one.
So don't expect consumer GPUs to ever get support for it.
