Phoronix: Radeon Navi 12/14 Open-Source Driver Support Now Being Marked As "Experimental"

In an interesting change of course, the open-source driver support for AMD Radeon Navi 12 and Navi 14 GPUs is being flagged as experimental and hidden behind a feature flag...

    I agree upon this change.
Generally AMD cards do not work reliably under Linux during their first months, and after roughly 6 months they become very stable.

Navi 10 itself is still buggy: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=111481

I have to object to the use of “hide”. Not compiling in a feature (doesn’t matter what the software is for) isn’t hiding any thing. In fact it is pretty smart to separate out that buggy code.

It is much better to have said feature disabled by default (and just hidden behind a kernel param) than having to download a separate tree and wait like 1 hour until it compiles.
