Phoronix: AMD Linux Improvements Pending Around FreeSync Low Frame Rate Compensation

Sadly too late for the upcoming Linux 5.4 merge window, but for Linux 5.5 it looks like there will be a FreeSync improvement around low-frame-rate compensation...

My guess is that will involve at least some rework of the entire DRM stack. (the HDMI calls at least), don't hold your breath yet.

The FreeSync patch is #25 if anyone needs. The rest of the patchset seems unrelated for this particular fix. Thx for the heads up, Michael.

Building now using 5.3-rc8 as the base.

Freesync working on multi monitor setups would be much more important IMO

FreeSync works for me on a multi-monitor setup. Can you elaborate?

I wonder if there is any progress to use FreeSync on Wayland or is this expected to work already somehow with Xwayland?

AFAIK it is officially not supported and it does not work for me. Do both of your monitors use freesync?

Afaik it only works if you have two of the same monitors, but not if you have a non-freesync secondary. Would love to see support for that, too.
