the people at guru3d found it - and I found them. Btw, the second download link points to a broken package.

composite works ok, no flickering with xv, but the picture bleeds into the decoration and is stretched.
Scrolling is fast, window movement is instantious (aka, no lag), manual resizing is still slow.

so, tried ut2004 and vegastrike. 3d performance is great. Seems to be better (but I may be mistaken). In vegastrike there is a 'colour' problem. The Atlantis planet in Cephid17 isreddish - while the planet was alwas blue in the past. Also with composite turned on the colours are way too dark of the ship. Strange, but not a problem.Last edited by energyman; 09 January 2009, 11:35 AM.

has anybody run gtkperf or jxrendermark on the 9.2 (or 9.1) drivers with composite disabled?
I would be really interested in 2D hw accaleration, and if its still as bad as it used to be in previous releases.
Unfourtunatly I am currently not at home, so can't test my Radeon3850 :-/
Thank you in advance, Clemens

It would be more easy then all betas are announced in a similar way that nvidia does. Most easy would be a standard position + latest.txt file which would point to latest stable + beta. I see no real reason why those have not been published before. This would decrease the frustration at launch day of the next official stable driver - when you know what you can expect.
