The APU's in both Acer's and HP's Chromebooks are based on the Excavator derived Bristol Ridge APU which is the process upgraded version of the Carrizo APU.

The lower end A4-9120C is clocked at 1.6ghz with a GPU clock at 600MHZ. The higher end A6-9220C is clocked at 1.8ghz with a GPU clock at 720mhz

Glad to see AMD has finally broken into the Chromebook market and is taking on Intel's hegemony in this space.

Maybe a Chromebook shootout is in order ?

Perhaps one day my Hawaii will be able to resume from suspend on a newer kernel than 4.18. Display just doesn't wake up afterwards and I can't ssh in or find any logs...

Actually, this seems like a minimal-effort dumping of excess Stoney Ridge inventory. That CPU is from 2016, so three years old now. And did you read the footnotes? They ran the benchmarks which show how great Stoney Ridge supposedly performs against the Pentium N4200 / Celeron N3350 (also launched in 2016) on Windows 10 and Android ffs. Not even bothering to run any benchmark on Chrome OS.

I think it is rather because Intel's 14 nm shortage is particularly bad at the low end, so AMD saw a one-off opportunity to sell some Stoney Ridge chips that were collecting dust in their warehouses.
