    there can't be that many extensions left that fglrx supports but radeon does not...

          I'm pretty sure mesa supports more at this point. fglrx doesn't have anything for OGL 4.6 (not sure about 4.5) and nothing for Vulkan either.
          On the other hand, I think fglrx has more/better OpenCL support, at least if you're using a GCN 1.1 or older GPU.

            Sounds like it is on some AMD checkbox of features that someone needs before they can think to drop the old driver. That or some old software uses it from a large corporation/government that they can't live without and no one will touch the code.

                In year 2002. there was 77 extensions



                So, as of end of year 2015. that means how FGLRX added (minus these removed in the meantime ) on average more than one extension every month

                  so, doing a straight up string comparison I get 40 missing extensions, but as you can see - some of these are just naming (shader image load store is in the fglrx as both GL_EXT_ and GL_ARB_). But for workstation compliance I am sure they would add in that alias Interesting list nonetheless
