They earned the right to be smug. LFS users are a different bunch from us.

But that said, expecting Nvidia to update its driver package for xserver 1.19 and kernel v4.9 based on the 1.18.9x and 4.9rc development builds is ridiculous.

Won't we need to wait for the DAL patches to get accepted for HTPC usage?

Yes and no. No, because there are sources available to compile or get a custom Kernel which makes the hardware usable now, yes because beeing able to unse vanilla kernels is a quite nice thing. And while there is some argument going on now, there will be a solution in some foreseeable time.
