i would guess a lot of people are like me. i will most probably end up replacing 3 NVidia cards i have right now for 480. performance is not important at all as long as i can play games at 1080p, which i already can on 750Ti. anything better than 750Ti is bonus, OSS drivers and wayland? much more important if difference between 1060 and 480 is only 20% as graphs show, i wouldn't be prepared to pay more than 120$ for NVidia. it is simply too expensive for something that requires blob to run.

RX 480 on LInux must be on that silence side, it does not have power issues so not need new driver i guess... we don't even know what is coil whine, that is perfect silence - half performing GL can't burn anything

Eventually, these chipsets will move to the mobile space, where we won't have a choice of GPU. I have a Kepler core GPU in my laptop which, worse still, uses Optimus. It is still problematic. It is good to hear that AMD is moving to support Open Source, but while we have choice in desktops, laptops are going to be more difficult.

I am actually not sure if this is 18 years old comment or just 10

I feel like bridgman and duby229 should file a bug on Catalyst bugzilla

Also, AMD was the first company in this industry I saw using goofy graphs like that back around the time of the bulldozer launch.
if you look at those graph is more or less 20% which is in line with price being that 480 is $200. graphs don't start with 0. basically, not worth $250 when you account for closed source driver troubles
