  • XV extension produce strange blue-tonality colors whith 169.09 drivers

I play video and i get this blue-color! I would say the color are missed-up..
images talk best then words in this case...
if i use gl extension or x11 extension the colors are right..
i think this is a bug...

to let you see what i'm talking about watch this video:

or just see this screenshot taken by me with gl extension:

then watch this screenshot taken by me with xv extension: (click on it to see the full image):

do you have any idea? should i file a bug?
this doesn't happen with drivers i had before: 100.14.23

the 100.14.23 and the 169.09 drivers are the only one i tryed here

/var/log/Xorg.0.log seems to not saying anything strange...

    and that's my xorg.conf

    thanks all

    UPDATE:
i've done some testing... it has exactly a Hue bias of +180 or -180
if you open the second image with GIMP and do: Colors-> Hue and saturation.. drag the Hue to 180 or -180 and you'll see the photo is back to his original colors...

and if i use vlc i can change the hue on the fly .. changing it to more or less half of the slide do the trick... do you think i should file a bug to nvidia?

Why don't you post it at

Discord is the easiest way to communicate over voice, video, and text. Chat, hang out, and stay close with your friends and communities.

Here I have never seen a NV developer.

      it's probably a good idea..
i posted here to be sure that it's not a common problem..
i'm looked for it before posting but may be i used some wrong key word...

        Work Around

It isn't a fix but you can work around the problem by installing xvattr and running the below command once an XVideo window has been opened.

        Code:
        xvattr -a XV_HUE -v 0
        Hope this helps.

oh.. tnx i thought i already posted here..

          i already found that command

anyway: i've found out the bug was withing TOTEM player.. as default it set a wrong hue.. if you don't
open totem at all you don't have any problem..
if you do it change the XV_HUE to ~180

to fix it.. open totem and, in preferences, set hue to 0 (drag all to the left)
save and you will be ok
