Because 7nm is not the standard.
AMD's Navi is half the size of Turing, but it costs just as much because it's made on 7nm. That's the price premium 7nm commands.

Just shows how much of scumbag company this is. They not only don't care about other companies and potential customers, they even disrespect their own fanboys who rushed to buy 2070/2080 half a year ago.

These chips are possible to make because of better yields and pinning, pretty sure that wouldn't have been able to make them in volume at the time of the 20 series launch. Although I'm still salty with the initial 20 series pricing was a bit high and wish it was priced according to what NVIDIA pulling up right now.
