Don't feed my neuroticism or you will get nothing but compton compton compton compton compton from me. Plenty of other compositors out there.

I've never heard of it before I just found it on Github https://github.com/chjj/compton/blob/master/README.md
It looks like it is X11 only anyway.

I have never had what I would consider problems with X11. I think the push away from X11 is mainly from a development standpoint, obviously its driving some of the developers crazy. The point is, is there are other options out there and there is really no real reason to be hell-bent on just one thing. I simply say compton cause it's a choice that I decided to make, no real big deal, and that choice has not really given me any issues aside from the fact that compton needs to be disabled before playing games cause it causes screen tearing. Honestly disabling one thing to do another is not really a big deal. From a philosophical standpoint its like having to get out of your car to enter a grocery store or switching on a coffee maker to make coffee.

If you are using a tiling window manager like i3wm, along with X11, something light weight like compton is a superb addition to that combination. It makes for a pretty robust desktop, while not quite windows 10 point and click easy it has its advantages mainly that its not an eye sore and is much faster to use.

How do you quit and restart compton after gaming?
