oh idk.. maybe solve one of the issues with opensource that makes it basicly impossivel to relicense anything?

Mir's demo-shell is used for showing off the possibilities of this Wayland competitor and experimenting with Mir code.

It was obvious a while ago that this isn't a "Wayland Competitor". They two display servers have completely different goals, even if they are very alike in how they go about achieving those goals.

Wayland has nothing to fear from Mir, and similarly we should stop banging on Canonical's door about developing Mir. If they want to do it, let them... just don't expect a lot of software to run on Ubuntu "natively" for a while ^.^

Wayland is a protocol, anybody can implement a wayland compositor using any license they want.

Weston, the reference composer is MIT licensed.
