    Congratulations, Intel! I get the impression that Intel is much more committed to VP9 than AMD. If I'm not mistaken, AMD's current VP9 support is limited to HD, which my CPU can software decode anyway. I'm also having a hard time finding any VP9 details on AMD's upcoming UVD7 decoder to be found in Vega. AMD seems to be living a bit too close to Apple's alternate reality that is HEVC.

    This should be something to look for in a laptop (where power counts). I suppose VP9 will remain relevant a few more years until we have AV1 hardware. 10-bit support is obviously relevant for HDR video, but lessons learnt from Daala also indicate that increasing bitdepth gives better quality per bitrate, HDR or not.
