          WebGL2 is brand new, so in practical terms probably not much. I think Unity targets it.

            I see. At least, I know I'm not gonna be left behind when more software uses WebGL 2.0, which is nice.

              WebGL1 = OpenGL ES2 = DirectX 9, WebGL2 = OpenGL ES3 = DirectX 10/11. So now you can run DX10 graphics in web games (e.g. created in Unity3D) without allowing and running a Win32 plugin in Linux Firefox (using Pipelight - or running whole FF in WINE). Also simplifies a lot porting mobile games to desktop.
